Battle of the bands

The battle of the bands, known as the election campaign, offered two clear alternatives in 2019.

The ALP offered an experimental playlist with big spending on health and education alongside changes to franking credits, negative gearing and capital gains tax. Led by their new front man, the Coalition stuck with their old-time favourites including a substantial package of tax cuts and the melody of ‘jobs and security’.

Come election night, both candidates and voters were eager to get the results of the final countdown
