Following the election, the ALP was keen to prove its gender equity credentials, particularly after Tanya Plibersek stepped down as deputy leader and Richard Marles filled the role. In the resulting reshuffle, the Leader of the Opposition, Anthony Albanese, announced a shadow cabinet with 12 men and 12 women.
