Lidia Thorpe Jumps Ship

In February 2023 Senator Lidia Thorpe announced that, as she could not support the Australian Greens’ ‘Yes’ position on the Voice, she was leaving the party to become an independent. Thorpe said she wanted to represent the ‘black sovereign movement’ and advocate for the ‘community of activists who are saying Treaty before Voice’.
