Numbers

Jon Kudelka contemplates the role of numbers in protests. The iconic image of the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests is of a lone man standing in front of the tanks, just one of the many protesters who were there. Large numbers of protesters in the streets of Hong Kong may, in the future, become the iconic image of the 2019 protests.
