Peter Broelman suggests that the National Party did not put country-focused policies in place when they had the chance to as part of the Coalition government from 2013 to 2022. The Universal Service Obligation (USO) is a long-standing legislated communications policy ensuring all Australians have access to landline telephones. Broelman’s cartoon was a response to Nationals leader David Littleproud having urged the current government to extend the USO to include mobile phones and mandated roaming.
