On 5 August Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk stated: ‘Today is the day I say to Queenslanders, we’ve listened to you. Today is the day we say we’re putting Queenslanders first.’ Lethbridge’s cartoon picks up on the sentiment expressed by the state’s closed border policy, which was hugely popular with Queenslanders at the time.
