US President Joe Biden was due to visit Australia and address parliament in May, the first such US presidential address in 10 years. He was also scheduled to attend the Quad Leaders’ Summit 2023. But Biden cancelled his visit owing to the developing supply crisis in the United States, during which Congress and the Senate had to be persuaded to raise the official US debt ceiling before the country defaulted on its loan repayments.
