Following the retirement of the Department of Health’s Associate Secretary, Caroline Edwards, Lieutenant General John Frewen was named Coordinator General of Operation COVID Shield (the National COVID Vaccine Taskforce). Some questioned the perceived politicisation of the defence force by appointing a military figure to such a role.
