Outrage over the death of George Floyd and ongoing police brutality sparked protests across America. President Donald Trump held a ‘photo op’ on the steps of a Washington church at the height of the unrest. Smoke canisters, pepperballs and horses were used to disperse peaceful protestors so the President could walk from the White House to the church. Many commentators saw it as a stunt designed to appeal to his conservative base in an election year.
