Goodbye to All That
The digital revolution has torn asunder traditional newspapers and as the media industry reshapes its products in a fast-changing market, traditions pass away. Broadsheets have become tabloids. Political cartoonists are given less space and there are fewer of them. In Spooner’s last cartoon for Fairfax his castaways rejoice at being let off the hook in a poignant and ambivalent image. This year Pat Campbell, Rod Clement and Rocco Fazzari also drew their last cartoons – for now.
