“At the time this was drawn, a Seussian rhyme seemed perfect to critique Labor’s convoluted internal struggles. Inspired by reading ‘Fox in Sox’ to my daughter, the rhyming text - finessed over several days - takes prominence. The icon-like drawings are kept deliberately simple to allow the text to be the focus.”

Reading between the lines

Andrew Weldon didn’t draw much until he was an adult. His first adult cartoon “showed a woman in a restaurant, clutching cutlery and freaking out. The caption read ‘Marjorie panicked as she realised hundreds of people had sucked this fork before her’.”
